Memorandum of Understanding between AEPTM and the Police Academy of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia Opens New Opportunities for Cooperation

A meeting between the senior management of the Police Academy “Prvi hrvatski redarstvenik” of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia and the Agency for Education and Professional Training (AEPTM) was held on 14 January 2026 at the Police Academy in Zagreb. On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the objective of strengthening institutional cooperation in the areas of education, professional training and research in the field of security.
The signing of the Memorandum establishes a structured framework for cooperation aimed at enhancing the quality and effectiveness of police education and professional development. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of institutional partnerships in addressing contemporary security challenges, including cross-border and transnational crime. The Memorandum builds upon many years of successful cooperation and further reinforces the institutional capacities of both organisations.
Mr Josip Ćelić, Head of the Croatian Police Academy, underlined that the Memorandum represents an important milestone in the continued development of police education. The agreement will facilitate the exchange of expertise, experience and best practices, thereby contributing to the modernisation and improvement of police education and training systems.
Mr Marko Vujević, Director of the Agency for Education and Professional Training, welcomed the formalisation of cooperation and emphasised its long-term strategic value. He noted that the Memorandum provides a solid basis for joint initiatives in education, research and professional development, contributing to stronger institutional capacities and effective security sector.
The meeting addressed priority areas for future cooperation, including the exchange of best practices in police education, joint development and delivery of training and professional development programmes, opportunities for joint research in the fields of security and crime, and enhanced cooperation in combating cross-border crime through education and capacity-building activities. Particular attention was given to the practical implementation of the Memorandum through clearly defined activities and follow-up steps.
On behalf of AEPTM, the participants of the meeting were Ms Dunja Galić, Head of the Support Department and Mr Neven Kajić, Senior Advisor. The Croatian Police Academy was represented by Mr Mario Bošnjak, Head of the Police School “Josip Jović”, Mr Nikola Slamek, Head of the Department for the Development of Police Education and International Cooperation, Mr Ilija Jakić, Head of the Department for Lifelong Learning, Mr Aleksandar Čubrilo, Deputy Head of the Department for Lifelong Learning, Ms Martina Grdinić, police officer at the Department for the Development of Police Education and International Cooperation; and Ms Ivana Herceg, police officer at the Department for Lifelong Learning.
