Two training cycles for drone operators completed

17/04/2026

In the period from 6 to 17 April, the Agency for Education and Professional Training held two cycles of basic training for drone operators, attended by 24 police officers from the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

These training sessions were organised in cooperation with the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina and with the expert support of CIVIPOL, as part of the EU4FAST Project (EU support to strengthening the fight against migrant smuggling and trafficking in human beings in the Western Balkans).

The training was conducted in accordance with a curriculum aligned by our agency with FRONTEX methodology, while the practical part was carried out using equipment (drones) donated by EU countries, worth €220,000. The training was delivered by a team of instructors from France.

Before the certificates were awarded, the participants were addressed by the Director of the Agency for Education and Professional Training, Marko Vujević, who once again thanked the French team of instructors for their continuous cooperation within the EU4FAST project, which in this case contributes to improved border surveillance, as drones are a modern and effective tool when used by trained and responsible personnel within a clear legal framework. Vujević announced further cooperation with CIVIPOL, the organisation of three additional cycles of basic training, and subsequently the organisation of advanced training for police officers who achieve the best results in the basic training. Congratulating the participants, Vujević emphasised that they have a duty, from a technical standpoint, to work on the stability and improvement of state border protection, particularly in combating trafficking in human beings and irregular migration, which is also the primary objective of the EU4FAST project.
