Deputy Commander of NATO Forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina Visits AEPTM
06/02/2025
Today, a delegation from the NATO Headquarters in Bosnia and Herzegovina visited the Agency for Education and Professional Training, led by Brigadier Muharrem Aydin, who assumed the position of Deputy Commander of NATO Forces in the country in November last year.
The meeting with the Director of the Agency for Education and Professional Training, Marko Vujević, was Brigadier Aydin’s introductory visit. Discussions covered the existing cooperation with NATO as well as an ongoing project. In the focus of the talks was the NATO DEEP CTRC development project, which has so far resulted in the creation of separate curricula for counter-terrorism training for police officers from the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies.
Following an assessment of the educational needs of police agencies, NATO experts provided a detailed review of the NATO Counter-Terrorism Reference Curriculum (CTRC), based on which three separate educational curricula were developed for SIPA, the Border Police, and the Directorate. In September last year, a pilot training was held for SIPA officers and investigators, following the new curriculum developed by the Agency in cooperation with SIPA representatives and aligned with the NATO DEEP Reference Curriculum.
Director Marko Vujević and Brigadier Muharrem Aydin expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation between the NATO Headquarters in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Agency, announcing the continuation of activities. These will include pilot training sessions for members of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies, as well as the organization of workshops for instructors for each module.
It is worth noting that the cooperation between the Agency and NATO is part of NATO’s Defence Education Enhancement Programme (NATO-DEEP) for Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was expanded in 2023 to include the Agency for Education and Professional Training.
