Over the past two weeks, two cycles of basic drone operator training were conducted at the Agency for Education and Professional Training, attended by 23 police officers from the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The training was delivered by instructors from France (CIVIPOL) in accordance with a curriculum that our Agency has aligned with the methodology of FRONTEX. The practical part of the training utilizes equipment, namely drones, donated by European Union member states, with a total value of EUR 220,000.

Training courses for Border Police officers of Bosnia and Herzegovina in drone operation have been held at our Agency since February of this year as part of the EU4FAST project (EU Support to Strengthening the Fight against Migrant Smuggling and Human Trafficking in the Western Balkans). The project contributes to enhanced border surveillance through the use of drones as a modern and effective tool when operated by trained and responsible personnel within a clear legal framework.

Certificates of successful completion were presented to the participants by the Director of the Agency for Education and Professional Training, Marko Vujević, who once again expressed his gratitude to the French team of instructors for their continuous cooperation within the EU4FAST project.

Congratulating the participants on successfully completing the training, Vujević emphasized that education in the use of modern technologies, in this case drones, aims to enhance the demanding tasks of border surveillance and control in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"Drones can also be used for other purposes, in accordance with the needs and competences of a police agency. However, the focus here is on border control and security. In this way, you contribute to the security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as you are on the front line of border protection," said Vujević, announcing the organization of advanced training courses in this field, to which border police officers who achieved the best results during the basic training will be invited.
