EU4FAST/ CIVIPOL – Drone pilot training project
18/03/2025
Marko Vujević, the Director of the Agency for Education and Professional Training (AEPTM), received today a delegation of the EU4FAST/CIVIPOL Project led by project manager Franck Fortin and international expert Frederic Beraudo.
Director Vujević briefed the guests on the Agency's responsibilities, international cooperation, and the methodology for organizing and conducting specialist training courses with an emphasis on those related to enhancing the competencies of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
EU4FAST aims to strengthen the fight against human trafficking in the Western Balkan countries, and – as emphasized – one of the segments of the project is border surveillance by using drones. The intention is for AEPTM to develop training curricula for drone pilot training and to create basic and advanced courses for instructors in collaboration with the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose representatives also participated in the meeting.
Assistant Director of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slobodan Krstić, and Inspector Selvedin Sakić highlighted the successful long-term cooperation between the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Agency for Education and Professional Training. They emphasized that this project could be effectively implemented by the Agency for Education and Professional Training.
The EU4FAST project has 17 partners, with France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy being the lead countries in the activities. Today's visit to AEPTM was an evaluative one, during which the Agency's capacities necessary for the implementation of the project were assessed. After presentations from all three parties, an agreement was reached to begin the project in phases, with initial activities focused on the development of training curricula according to FRONTEX methodology.
Director Vujević emphasized the importance of such training courses for the Border Police, as well as for other AEPTM partner police agencies (the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies).
