Handling of Firearms and Marksmanship Skills (Instructor training)
30/05/2025
The instructor training in the field of firearm handling and marksmanship skills ended today at the Agency for Education and Professional Training. The trainees, police officers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, already possessed prior knowledge in this area. Over the past three weeks, the training focused on enhancing the skills and competencies required for planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of results during live-fire exercises within their respective institutions (the Institute for Execution of Criminal Sanctions, Detention and Other Measures of BiH, the State Investigation and Protection Agency – SIPA, and the Judicial Police of BiH).
Given the highly demanding curriculum, participants of the training were required to pass initial knowledge and skills assessments so that the training instructors could adapt their methods and techniques accordingly and monitor each candidate’s progress toward achieving the training outcomes. The training was divided into four parts, with more than 60% of the scheduled hours spent on the shooting range, where participants performed shooting exercises with semi-automatic pistols and automatic rifles.
At the conclusion of the program, certificates were awarded to the participants by Predrag Šupljeglav, Deputy Director of the Agency for Education and Professional Training. In his congratulatory remarks, he emphasized the importance of lifelong learning and continuous professional development, which enhances the capabilities of police officers in carrying out their duties, increases the efficiency of police agencies, and contributes to the stability of the national security system.
