Visit of the Joint Committee for Defense and Security of the Parliamentary Assembnly of Bosnia and Herzegovina

10/07/2025

The Director of the Agency for Education and Professional Training, Marko Vujević, today received a delegation from the Joint Committee for Defense and Security of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Chairman Jasmin Imamović, along with the Parliamentary Military Commissioner, Boško Šiljegović.

Speaking about the current state of the Agency, with an emphasis on the implementation of its legal responsibilities in training programs (basic training and various forms of specialized training, professional development, and training for police officers), Director Vujević emphasized that the Agency's priority is to organize training for cadets of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), the Border Police of BiH, and the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies, as well as professional development for active police officers according to the needs expressed by the aforementioned agencies.

The key topic of the meeting was the shortage of personnel across all police agencies at the state level. In this regard, the Director clearly stated that, upon completion of the selection procedures—which fall under the direct jurisdiction of SIPA, the Border Police, and the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies—the Agency for Education and Professional Training admits the selected cadets and organizes teaching process in accordance with the current curriculum.

The Director informed the guests that the working conditions at the Agency are of high quality and that continuous efforts are being made to improve equipment and develop curricula that align with modern international standards. He noted that the Agency is currently staffed at only 70% of its required capacity, which is insufficient given the workload. Nevertheless, he emphasized that there have been no delays or waiting lists for cadet training from agencies under the Ministry of Security.

Members of the Joint Committee for Defense and Security of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH were on this occasion accompanied by representatives from the OSCE in BiH and the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo.
