Mentor training third cycle

Deputy director of the Agency for Education and Professional Training, Saša Govedarica presented today certificates to the participants of the 3rd cycle of training of mentors of police officers on a probation period. The participants were 22 police officers and investigators of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina and State Investigation and Protection Agency The training that took place on July 9 – 13, 2018 was supported by the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Programme of the USA Ministry of Justice (ICITAP).
In his speech to the police officers, mentors of SIPA and Border Police of BiH, Saša Govedarica talked about the training programme that involves adopting new skills and gaining knowledge in terms of developing a character relationship toward junior police officers. ' It is important to develop a good, even friendly relationship so that those young people can always turn to you for a piece of advice and assistance with confidence', Govedarica said.
The training participants received congratulations from Alexander Maich, Advisor at ICITAP, Robert Perić, Head of Border Police FO South and Željko Ćorić, Head of SIPA Regional Office. As a policeman with 34-year-experience, and an associate working for ICITAP in the projects involving police structures such as Nepal or Bangladesh, Maich underlined that policemen, regardless of where they are, have to have their attitude, create friendly relationship and build trust in communities. He desicribed the importance of mentoring with the following words: ' You are the ones creating the future police officers in your country'.
The next cycle of the training of mentors will take place on September 10, 2018 in the Agency for Education and Professional Training.
